Following yesterday’s amazing Apollo 11 post here’s the entire full length sci-fi classic Capricorn One, written and directed by Peter Hyams, (Outland, The Star Chamber), and released back in 1977. In our humble opinion this is one of the greatest conspiracy based films ever made, complete with black helicopters and a soundtrack which, to this day, still gives us goosebumps.
Here’s a bit of throwaway movie trivia for you:
Peter Hyams began thinking about a film of a space hoax while working on broadcasts of the Apollo missions for CBS. To stay within the budget, NASA’s cooperation was needed. Producer Paul Lazarus had a good relationship with the space agency from Futureworld. The filmmakers were thus able to obtain government equipment as props despite the negative portrayal of the space agency, including a prototype lunar module.
