Great title eh? Cos it’s about a down on his luck ex-soccer football player who’s tries to redeem himself by coaching his son’s soccer football team. See what Hollywood did there. He’s suddenly taking control of his life therefore he’s now ‘Playing For Keeps‘. Genius.
Directed by Gabriele Muccino, (Seven Pounds, The Pursuit Of Happyness) it stars Gerard Butler, Jessica Biel, Uma Thurman, Catherine Zeta Jones, (whose grill looks like it’s been in a wind tunnel) and Dennis Quaid. None of this would be any interest to me at all if it weren’t for the fact that Butler’s character in the film once played for Glasgow Celtic Football Club, as demonstrated in the trailer by possibly the cheapest CGI effects ever employed.
