Monster movies seem to be the next preferred genre of films Hollywood has major plans for. On the back of the announcement that Godzilla is set to return and growing anticipation for Guillermo del Toro’s Pacific Rim comes the exciting news that Troll Hunter director André Øvredal is to take the reigns over the movie adaptation of the monster themed comic Enormous.
And plans for this project stretch a lot further than just the silver screen, Øvredal and Hitman producer Adrian Askarieh have a book series, web series and television series blueprinted so that the story of gigantic beasts laying waste to cities around the world can be told over various different platforms. If you’ve seen Troll Hunter, which in my own personal opinion was a work of creative genius, then you’ll understand the buzz and excitement surrounding the announcement of this ambitious project. The man knows how to do a monster movie.
