Amid the rising chorus of choir singers a character turns to Nicolas Cage and announces ‘we’re going to need a bigger boat more holy water’.Yes, Hellboy and Ghost Rider go back in time, like way back to when folks rode on horses and shit, to kick some evil witch ass! There’s something strangely appealing about this trailer and if Cage keeps his mugging down to a believable minimum then this film may be worth a watch. They should’ve called it Witch Bitch.
N.B. The Scott’s Porage Oats dude is in this film. What’s not to like about porridge. And it’s spelt Porridge by the way!
Sweet Jesus Cinnamon Tits! The trailer above for Zack Snyder’s latest film Sucker Punch, (he of 300 and Watchmen fame), should come with a health warning as it’s covered in so much delicious awesome sauce. The basic plot revolves around a young girl who is forced into a mental institution where she and four friends attempt to escape…through their imagination. That last part, about freeing your mind to truly escape, may be a bit of a sticking point but when your lead characters look like Halloween cos-play hotties and you have a huge-normous dragon and zombie Kaiser soldiers in your film who really gives a shit about a plot?
If you want to know more about Sucker Punch then chart a course for the film’s main website HERE.
A hot chick, a reckless daredevil and a safety conscious wet blanket find themselves trapped in a huge underground cave. With only cheesy one liners to keep them company they must find a way out, back to the surface, before their mates piss off home for their tea and forget about them. It’s like the Poseidon Adventure but with more bad acting, sleeveless vests and hard hats…and it’s in 3D!
Here’s yet another trailer for Disney’s behemoth movie Tron Legacy but this time with music from Daft Punk who scored the soundtrack for the film. The money that has been spent making this movie is bordering on the obscene, but after watching the video above everyone here at HMS Friday simultaneously soiled our smalls. Hurry up December 17th.
Here’s the trailer for Liam’ Easter Island Head’ Nessons’ latest film Unknown. Apart from giving away what appears to be not just the entire plot but almost the entire film, the trailer once more teaches us two important lessons: 1) Mr Neeson really needs to stay away from Europe, (see Taken) and 2) Although he plays the part of a man who has forgotten everything he somehow still remembers how to inflict pain through a hybrid style of street kung-fu and knows how to expertly use a range of evasive driving techniques.
N.B. No matter how bad your head trauma was you would never forget nailing Don Draper’s wife. Fact!
This short video of two skateboarders witnessing the crash landing of what appears to be some sort of space craft has all the hallmarks of a promotional viral video. It’s been doing the rounds across the Internet and has most people mystified, but we here at HMS Friday think we’ve cracked it. We believe it’s a viral video for the soon to be released film Attack The Block directed by comedian Joe Cornish, (he of Adam and Joe Show fame).
Maybe we’re just full of bumboo and grog here at HMS Friday but this trailer for the Japanese anime version of the hit TV series Supernatural looks…well, super. Apparently there are 22 episodes which will air in America in February, (so expect it to air here in the UK around never time), and will keep faithful to some elements of the series as it follows the adventures and exploits of Sam and Dean Winchester. We just hope they keep that excellent Japanese cover version of Carry On My Wayward Son as the theme tune. (Via io9)
WARNING: This is one of those annoying trailers which gives away what appears to be a crucial twist in the plot. So if you don’t want to know too much about the film then stop around the 1.34 mark.
Apparently this version of True Grit, the original starred John Wayne, remains faithful to the book which was written by Charles Portis in 1969. It tells the story of 14 year-old Mattie Ross and her quest to find and bring to justice the man who killed her father. She employs the services of Rooster Cogburn, a grizzled, alcoholic Marshall and La Boeuf, a younger Texas Ranger.
After watching this trailer we are pretty much convinced that Jeff Bridges has produced another performance which has the dial firmly turned up to eleven and could possibly earn him a nod from the Academy. Once everyone here had stopped jumping up an down on deck clapping our hands like excited Japanese school girls we were also thrilled to learn the cast includes Matt Damon and Josh Brolin.
There are some amazingly creative films coming out of Scandinavia recently. This month alone we had a sneak peak at Finnish film Rare Exports, a very twisted take on the story of Father Christmas and now this trailer for Trolljegeren, aka The Troll Hunter. Apparently it tells the story of a group of documentary film makers trying to track down elusive trolls in Norway which are rumoured to be living in large reserves owned by the government in the north of the country. In true mockumentary, shaky, hand-held style they get more than they bargained for. The Troll Hunter is released in Norway in October but no word when it’s released here in the UK.
Here’s a teaser trailer for a movie called I Am Number Four, directed by DJ Caruso whose previous works have included Disturbia and Eagle Eye and he’s slated to direct the film version of the popular sci-fi survival horror console game Dead Space. Starring ex-teenage Burberry model Alex Pettyfer the film tells the story of refugee John Smith, (scriptwriters pushed the boat out there), who is one of nine gifted children who along with their individual gaurdians have escaped their home planet of Lorien for earth. But here they are hunted and killed by their enemies in numeric order and three have already been exterminated.
