Here’s our first official look at the much-anticipated first-person action movie Hardcore from director Ilya Naishuller, who you may remember was the man responsible behind the outrageous first-person short film Bad Motherfucker, which became a viral sensation.
Now Naishuller is back with a full length movie which is being funded by Indiegogo. The plot for Hardcore rattles along like so:
You remember nothing. Mainly because you’ve just been brought back from the dead by your wife (Haley Bennett). She tells you that your name is Henry and congratulations, you’re now a cyborg. Five minutes later, your wife has been kidnapped and you should probably go get her back. Who’s got her? His name’s Akan (Danila Kozlovsky), he’s just a psychotic megalomaniac with telekinetic powers, and a never-ending army of mercenaries. You’re also in an unfamiliar city of Moscow, Russia and everyone wants you dead. Everyone, except for a mysterious British fellow called Jimmy (Sharlto Copley). He might be on your side. Good luck Henry. You’re very much likely to need it.
No word yet on when we can expect to see Hardcore in British cinemas.
Here’s a TV spot for the forthcoming series Westworld, based on the 1973 film of the same name which was written and directed by Michael Crichton, (Jurassic Park).
The original movie explored the theme of artificial intelligence with a Western themed amusement park populated by human-like androids for tourists to interact with. The TV series, written by Jonathan Nolan (Interstellar, The Dark Knight) and produced by JJ Abrams will carry over the same theme which made the movie so successful and stars Anthony Hopkins, James Marsden and Ed Harris who plays the Man In Black, a role made famous in the original movie by Yul Brynner.
Westworld will debut in 2016.
It may have been almost 15 years since the original Zoolander film gave us Blue Steel but the long awaited sequel is now upon us.
Above is the official teaser trailer for Zoolander 2, which sees the return of Ben Stiller as Derek Zoolander and, (even though he’s not in the teaser trailer), Owen Wilson as super model Hansel McDonald.
Zoolander 2 is scheduled for release on February 12th, 2016.
Ever since it was first announced I have been feverishly anticipating Alejandro González Iñárritu‘s The Revenant, which stars Leonardo DiCaprio and Tom Hardy and judging by the fascinating trailer above, which features some jaw dropping cinematography, my high expectations for this film may have been met.
The plot for The Revenant rattles along like so:
Deep in the uncharted American wilderness, hunter Hugh Glass (Leonardo DiCaprio) is severely injured and left for dead by a traitorous member of his team, John Fitzgerald (Tom Hardy). With sheer will as his only weapon, Glass must navigate a hostile environment, a brutal winter, and warring Native American tribes in relentless quest to survive and exact vengeance on Fitzgerald.
Since this trailer was released last week reports have leaked online that the film is $40m over budget and although it’s release date is December 25th, Iñárritu is yet to film the end of the movie.
After it was secretly recorded and leaked online following its exclusive unveiling at the San Diego Comic Con last weekend, Warner Bros have now officially released the full and glorious trailer for Suicide Squad.
The movie is written and directed by David Ayer, (Traning Day, Fury), and stars among others Will Smith as Deadshot and Jared Leto as The Joker two members of a special group of super villains which a secret government agency recruits to execute dangerous black ops missions, in exchange for clemency.
There has been a lot of concern by rabid fanboys about the prospect of a Suicide Squad movie but judging from the trailer it looks like they really had nothing to worry about.
Suicide Squad is scheduled for general release on August 5th, 2016.
Soak it up. Soak it all up.
Above is the official Star Wars: The Force Awakens behind-the-scenes reel, shown yesterday to fans at the San Diego Comic Con.
This glorious and surprisingly moving footage gives us a tiny insight at the practical effects and sets used in the movie and the determination by cast and crew to deliver a film which fans will love. With a few surprises along the way.
Star Wars: The Force Awakens is scheduled for release on December 18th.
If you’re a Bruce Campbell fan, or an Evil Dead fan, then you really must stop what you are doing, lock the front door, draw the blinds and bask in this brilliant trailer for Sam Raimi’s forthcoming TV series Ash Vs. Evil Dead.
Ash is indeed back battling the undead and demons with one hand and one-liners in what looks like a camp, OTT collection of episodes every horror fan will relish. The plot is set 30 years on from the original film and the old fella, even though a few pounds heavier, still has it, was there ever any doubt he had lost it?
Speaking at the show’s Comic Con panel in San Diego yesterday Campbell explained a little more about the return of his iconic character:
“He has survivor’s guilt. You could have a heyday with his PTSD. He’s a war vet. He continues being a trash-talking know-it-all who doesn’t really know anything. He’s the ultimate anti-hero. He’s kind of an idiot, but man, if I had to go to battle, I’d want to be next to that guy, because he’ll bring it if he has to.”
In news which should surprise no fan of this property Ash Vs. Evil Dead premieres this Halloween.
