This report, first broadcast late Saturday night on BBC News 24, goes into some detail about the possible cause of the initial riot in Tottenham, which some argue led to further civil unrest across the country’s capital last night. It comes from an eyewitness who the BBC contacted to establish what was happening in the area at the time. As you will hearĀ he explains that the flash point came when police were approached by a 16 year-old girl wanting answers surrounding the death of Mark Duggan, she walked up to a line of officers armed with batons to make a statement and was ‘set upon’ by the police who beat her to the ground.
This report hasn’t been broadcast since and there has been no reference by any news media outlet of the event ever taking place. Below is a video taken by another witness who managed to film some of the incident.
