Games developer Treyarch have released the first official trailer and gameplay videos for Escalation, the second map pack in yet a further continuation of downloadable content for their blockbusting title Call Of Duty: Black Ops.
As well as the standard four new maps it’s the additional zombie content which looks a little special, this time around. Presented in a Grindhouse style, the trailer above showcases gameplay and elements of the Call Of The Dead as four protagonists, Danny Trejo (Machete), Sarah Michelle Gellar, (Buffy), Robert Englund, (Freddy Kruger), and Michael Rooker, (Henry: Portrait Of A Serial Killer), go head to head with the zombie horde aboard an ice bound ship in a frozen wasteland.
Now word yet on whether you’ll be able to play as each of these characters in a Left 4 Dead style co-op match, but once again Activision are tempting even more money from our wallets with this line-up.
N.B: Why didn’t they give Bruce Campbell a gig in this game?
It was only a matter of time before somebody put together a live action fan film for Infinity Ward’s first person shooter Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare and it looks nothing short of amazing.
Find Makarov was made by Toronto based marketing firm We Can Pretend to emphasise that a film version of the highly successful gaming franchise is actually achievable. In fact a first person POV movie of this nature could have massive potential by drawing in millions of gaming fans while staying faithful to the original property. If you want to know more about Find Makarov then chart a course for the short film’s Facebook Page.
Modern Warfare 3 comes with realistic salute inertia.
'Oh that's just f@cking crate!'
When we’re not navigating through the murky waters of internet entertainment, we here at the HMS Friday like to relax with a little video game time. And what better game to relieve some stress than a multiplayer session on Call Of Duty: Black Ops. Except it’s not very relaxing, if it’s not the squeaky voiced American kids killing us repeatedly then it’s…wooden boxes from the sky? Easily the best “WTF?” kill we’ve seen yet.
Further proof that no matter how good you are something will always come along and make you feel like a right prick.
Apparently if you shoot the heads off all the mannequins in the multi-player Nuketown map level of Call Of Duty: Black Ops something special happens. After many attempts a group of gaming marauders unlocked the secret much to their collective delight and they were kind enough to video their effort to share with everyone else. Gaming geeks, don’t you just love them? (via Joystiq)
Personally speaking we were hoping for something more like a freedom fridge:
The crew here at HMS Friday have been religiously putting in the hours playing Call Of Duty: Black Ops and haven’t so far been disappointed in the latest addition of the first person shooter franchise. But one thing which has soured our experience is the noticeable rise in the number of online players with swastika flags for their clan tags and gaming cards which show up etched onto their weapons during play.
The two pictures above clearly illustrate how some players have hand designed the Nazi flags using the customisable options Treyarch have built into the multi-player section of the game. Yes, you could argue the swastika is everywhere on the Zombie Maps and has popped up on numerous occasions during single player campaigns in previous Call Of Duty games, but for a player to actually spend time and effort creating a replica Nazi flag, either to be deliberately controversial or worse, is offensive for gamers like us who see it as a representation of Nazism. Should developers Treyarch enforce a ban on those responsible? What do you think?
UPDATE: You Tube has some videos where players have uploaded instructions on how to make and design swastika flags for Call Of Duty: Black Ops. Here’s two examples:
