Personally I admire Channel 4 News presenter Krishnan Guru-Murthy but I really don’t think he’s suited to interviewing celebrities.
In the video above Guru-Murphy poses a couple of really uncomfortable questions to the movie star Robert Downey Jnr about the star’s past with drugs and his relationship with his father when the sole reason the actor was present for the chat was to promote his latest film Avengers 2: Age Of Ultron.
I have no idea why a man’s long forgotten days with narcotics or much publicised relationship with his dad should be of any relevance now, when he has spoken at length about his struggles years before. Downey Jnr rightly left the interview early stating:
“It’s just getting a little Diane Sawyer in here”
Here’s that Quentin Tarantino car crash of an interview which aired on Channel 4 News last night. A lot of people are criticising Tarantino’s reaction to Krishnan Guru-Murthy’s questions about the glorification of violence in movies. Every time this man is interviewed he’s asked the same questions over and over again. Right now Texas Chainsaw 3D is the number one movie in the US but news media outlets aren’t clambering to interview the director John Luessenhop over violence in cinema.
Following the monumental breakdown Sony has suffered in recent days with their Playstation Network, every news website, paper and channel have been featuring special reports on this story as legions of people, who are incapable of amusing themselves without the use of electronic gadgetry, are throwing party bags of Doritos around their living rooms in fits of rage.
But Channel 4 News have to be applauded for their coverage of the story, simply due to a moment of genius which you can watch at the 3.00 minute mark in the video above.
