Hollywood actor/stand-up comedian Russell Brand appeared on this week’s Newsnight with host Jeremy Paxman and went into a fantastic rant about the reasoning behind his personal decision to refrain from voting.
Regardless if you’re fan of Brand’s work or not there is no denying that he makes some valid points throughout the chat and it’s refreshing to see someone as passionate and as animated about what’s going on in the world today.
Chloe Smith, the Treasury Minister must have drawn the short straw at Govt HQ to enter into Jeremy Paxman’s news lair. As you’d might expect she was eaten alive on TV in front of thousands of viewers during an extremely uncomfortable interview, which was akin to watching a petulant child being chastised by a furious headmaster. Paxman even asked her the question: “Do you ever think you are incompetent?”
Smith appeared on last night’s edition of Newsnight to defend Chancellor George Osborne’s U-turn on plans to increase fuel duty. Opposition parties have been very vocal and critical of the latest in an ever increasing line of budget proposal reversals. Following Smith’s appearance in front of Paxman, Osborne has been branded a ‘coward‘ for effectively feeding a junior minister to the lions and not appearing himself.
