L.A. Noire Has A Star Studded Cast Of Whatstheirnames.

Right we’ve danced the Hempen jig enough over Rockstar’s latest game La Noire but in their very latest trailer for the 1940s themed, sandbox detective game, entitled Investigation & Interrogation, we couldn’t help but notice a few familiar faces.

The technology used to realistically recreate the faces of those actors and actresses used in the game is known as MotionScan, a new system for 3D motion capture, and as you can see from the video above the results are breathtaking. Long gone are the days of trying to figure out the actor who voices your favourite in-game character as you can easily determine who it is from their almost identical CGI doppelgangers.

Michael Gladis who plays Paul Kinsey in the hit series of Mad Men and apparently appeared in that Liam Nesson and Harrison Ford submarine Russkie flick K-19 The Widowmaker.

Greg Grunberg the cop from Heroes.

Brain Krause who played Leo Wyatt in Charmed and also popped up in an episode of Mad Men.

Patrick Fischler who played obnoxious comedian Jimmey Barret in Mad Men, Phil in Lost and Detective Kenny ‘no-gun’ in Southland

We’re going out on a limb with this one but we’re pretty sure that’s Courtney Gains, famous for his role as Hans Klopek in The Burbs and Sgt Eugene McVey in Memphis Belle.

LA Noire Just Had Sex With Our Eyes.

As you’ll see from the video above this is every bit a work of art as it is a game. Rockstar Games, who now have a pretty flawless reputation for producing the goods, in collaboration with developers Team Bondi have put together what looks like a multi-layered, beautifully textured, highly detailed open world game which has the look and feel of the late 1940s in Hollywood.Yes, cynics and critics will cry that it’s just GTA with brylcreem or Red Dead Redemption without the horses, but they’d be wrong.

The story itself centres around your character a rookie LAPD cop who starts off on the beat and works up to detective solving cases and arresting criminals along the way. A large part of the structure to this game relies heavily on picking up clues, solving mysterious deaths and working your way up the LAPD chain of command. Obviously there is a lot more to the game than that so we’ll let the nice man with the dulcet tones explain more in the video. La Noire is released on May 17th.

NB. For the solitary reader of this website, you may recall we thought the lead charcter of LA Noire was the CGI double of Mad Men’s Ken Cosgrove and we were right, for the actor Aaron Staton is indeed the lead in this fine looking game.

Following on from their highly successful Western themed sand box game Red Dead Redemption, gaming giants Rockstar have proudly unveiled the first official trailer to their highly anticipated new title LA Noire. Set in the city of Los Angeles in the 1940s , drawing obvious inspiration from the likes of LA Confidential, Chinatown and other film noir from the same era, the game is centred around a young detective and his efforts to crack a series of mysterious murders. The game was announced over six years ago and fans have been in a state of anxious anticipation since then. Obviously, with all of their titles, it will be a well researched game giving players that specific feel of authenticity Rockstar are known for.

One thing we did notice was how the lead character looks uncannily like actor Aaron Staton, whose most famous role to date is that of Ken Cosgrove in the excellent 50s drama series Mad Men. What do you think?
