Man Fires Gun At Himself Underwater For Science.

A lot of dangerous, some may say ‘fool-hardy’ experiments have been conducted in the name of science and the one above could easily be included into that bracket.

Physicist Andreas Wahl bravely demonstrates how water slows the trajectory of a bullet down, once fired from a submerged gun, by standing directly in front of it. The science behind this experiment is explained succinctly in the video’s description:

It’s harder to create movement in water than in air, because water molecules are closer together than air molecules. To show the difference in resistance, physicist Andreas Wahl puts himself in front of a weapon submerged in water and fires it – on himself.

Life Is Nothing More Than A Matrix…According To Scientists!

Prepare to have your tiny pea-sized brain blown. We are trapped inside a massive Sims game!

In an article in the Huffington Post it’s claimed that physicists may have evidence that the universe is a computer simulation. Yes, that’s right, you may have inadvertently swallowed the red pill and life as you know it is nothing more than a complex first-person simulation, with amazing graphics and outstanding realistic breast inertia.

So here’s the skinny. A group of philosophers and goatee beard intellectuals have for some time now been mulling over a ‘thought experiment‘ which highlights that ‘…any civilisation of sufficient size and intelligence would eventually create a simulation universe if such a thing were possible‘. But it gets so much better than that, as a team of researchers at the University of Bonn in Germany might have evidence to corroborate this theory in a paper they published called  ‘Constraints on the Universe as a Numerical Simulation‘, which you can read HERE.

The science behind this is extremely dense but the physicists involved are going to attempt to create their very own simulated universe so that they can observe the effects and limitations which might exist in our own.

If none of this is real and the life we’ve been leading and the lives which were lead before us, is nothing more than a computer simulation or an outrageous illusion then who or what is behind the curtain?

You may already be aware of 3D printing and just how much of a technological advancement it’s proving to be. If not, Mashable posted up this highly informative and visually pleasing infographic to help fill in all the blanks.

In essence 3D printing allows people to quickly and easily produce actual three dimensional objects from their computers. How about body parts? Or discontinued components for your classic car? Actually these have already been achieved. If I was a counterfeiter I’d be very excited right now.

 

 

Sun Storm To Hit Earth Tonight.

Apparently we might be subjected to power cuts and electrical interference and disruption tonight due to electrical charged particles entering the earth’s atmosphere.

Computers, mobile phones, televisions and other electrical devices may be effected after scientists recorded one of the biggest geomagnetic storms on the sun in the last 30 years at 10.54am yesterday morning. One benefit to this fire drill for the end of the world could be that the particle fallout creates a widespread natural light show across Britain in the form of the Northern Lights. Scientists have categorised this solar flare as an X18-category explosion, which basically means planet-wide radio blackouts may be expected along with additional interference.

Although the charged particles present no direct danger to people on the ground, they could have a devastating effect on electrical equipment. The Sun Is Getting All Kinds Of Scary.

Like something out of a Hollywood disaster movie worried scientific researchers across the globe are frantically firing e-mails off to each other to try to find out what is going on with the sun. Apparently our life giving star is emitting a strange and mysterious force which could have the power to mutate matter.

Simply put the boffins in white lab coats don’t have a Scooby Doo why the sun is leaking a mysterious force which they claim could not only speed up time but also mutate mankind itself. Here comes the science bit:

Worst of all, if the decay rates of matter are being mutated then all matter on Earth is being affected including the matter that makes up life. The mutation may go so far as to change the underlying reality of the quantum universe—and by extrapolation-the nature of life, the principles of physics, perhaps even the uniform flow of time.In fact, some evidence of time dilation has been gleaned from close observation of the decay rate. If particles interacting with the matter are not the cause—and matter is being affected by a new force of nature-then time itself may be speeding up and there’s no way to stop it.

Scientists To Drill To Earth’s Mantle.

Well this sounds perfectly safe, doesn’t it kids? Not content with cloning sheep, grafting human body parts onto laboratory mice or creating an energy particle accelerator which could open up a whole new dimension filled with four headed demons on crab like legs, those special guys in white overcoats have gone a step further and announced that by 2020 they could reach the earth’s mantle.

That’s right those wacky nerds are getting furiously pumped over the possibility of drilling a hole through the sea bed to reach Earth’s mantle in the next ten years.

‘By extracting samples of the mantle, which is nearly 3,000 km thick and contains roughly 68% of the planet’s mass, researchers hope to unearth valuable information about its composition that could yield clues about the evolution of the planet. It could also contribute to our understanding of how the ocean crust is formed, the nature of the crust-mantle boundary and the limits of microbial life under the Earth’s surface.’

You know we’re no experts on these matters, (grog, rum, wooden prosthetics, inflatable parrots are our areas of expertise), but if something takes you ten years to reach simply because it is buried so deep under rock with an entire ocean on top of it then you can be pretty sure you were never meant to reach it.
