With all the current tension between England and Scotland right now, in the run up to the 2014 independence referendum, it’s encouraging to hear about plans for a televesion series which will depict both countries hacking and slashing each other to bits.
STV have announced plans to make a historical drama series about one of Scotland’s most famous sons, William Wallace called simply ‘Wallace‘. STV issued the following statement regarding their plans:
“This was a turbulent time in Scotland’s history, in which William Wallace had a starring and pivotal role. We plan to delve deep into his character and explore his passions, bringing parts of history to life in a spectacular and raw depiction. With all eyes on Scotland in the current political climate, this also seems to be a very appropriate time to tell this story in more depth.”
Apparently the series will be created in the same vein as Spartacus and Game of Thrones…wait…so it’ll just be episodes full of naked rutting and three eyed crows? At least it’ll be more historically accurate than the original movie.
